About Founder & Chief Curator Sakari Sanders
Sakari Sanders is the chief curator and founder for Curated for Artist, an organization designed to strengthen artistry among creatives while advancing the ability to sell works to collectors.
Sakari’s passion for art derives from over 24 years of extensive art studies as well as growing up in a home filled with art, books and furniture from all over the world. After graduating from Spelman College ’13 as an Art Historian, Sakari interned as an assistant curator at Fay Gold Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. Sakari was awarded the honor and privilege of selecting Marco Brandon for the first solo show for the Gallery in 2014. A successful exhibit which displayed Marco’s distinctive contemporary style that combines art history with modern techniques.
Over the next 9 years Sakari opened an interior design firm which advanced her career as an international buyer for art collectors who appreciated her creative eye and keen ability to identify emerging artists. Sakari draws upon her extensive travel, innovative thinking, and client desires in successfully incorporating art into design elements of residential and commercial spaces.
Inspired and energized by 2020 trends and movement in modern and contemporary art, Sakari reentered the gallery scene as a guest curator for Atlanta’s Hidden Gallery owned by artist and curator Miya Bailey and successfully produced “The Awakening”. A group exhibition that explored spiritual awakenings featuring original work by Chanell Angeli Miya Bailey, Vanna Black, Andrew Blooms, Shanneil Clarke, Qrcky, Marryam Momma, and Petie Parker. This thoughtfully curated exhibition provided a positive pivot in the careers of several emerging artists.
Sakari currently is the chief curator for Castleberry Hill’s newest hidden gem Koncept House: a co-working space housing 98% woman owned and 100% minority owned businesses . Sakari's quarterly exhibitions feature the works of local, national, and international artists as an extension of offerings and experiences at Koncept House.
